Spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense John Kirby said Afghan and coalition forces had defeated the Taliban and the progress will continue to build on this success.

Kirby said: "is not only frustrating, but the momentum of the Taliban was defeated, and we believe they are in a position much weaker this spring than they were a year ago."

He noted that Taliban attacks outstanding did not stop the momentum to address them and defeated, pointing out that the attempt to carry out attacks in and around Kabul on 15 April last was weak and was to contain the very next day, and even another attempt to launch an attack, hours after the visit of President Barack Obama to Afghanistan last week was "not fully effective."

He Kirby to move the Taliban has become more difficult as they can not muster the resources and planning of the attacks and their implementation, but he noted that it is too early to rule out the Taliban from the accounts, and they still make up an enemy firm and that Washington believes it has broken the momentum of the movement.
