FAZ: Opel Astra will cease production in Germany in 2015

2015 may be the last year for the compact model Opel Astra, collected at the plant in Rüsselsheim (Germany), writes a local newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), citing high-ranking officials who take part in the negotiations on this issue. By reducing labor costs the company plans to increase annual production from 145 Astra 000 to 205 000 units (Elesmer port) and from 185 000 to 240 000 units (Gliwice), the report said. Since 1999, Opel has suffered a loss of $ 16 billion. Only during the first quarter of 2012 Vauxhall and Opel lost about $ 256 million.

It is reported that the final decision regarding the relocation of GM decides in mid-May. Management of companies General Motors and Opel does not comment on the situation.
